• General Linguistics

Michela Cislaghi has been teaching General Linguistics at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna and Milan since 2001. Since 2018, she has also been Teaching Coordinator of SSML Carlo Bo campus in Bologna. She has studied at the Institute of Glottology of the Catholic University of Milan, with which for years she collaborated as core subject expert for Germanic Philology. Since 2001, she has been an adjunct professor at the university degree course in Speech Therapy at the State University of Milan for teaching Linguistics. From 1993 to 2010, as a research fellow she collaborated with the Institute of Language Sciences at IULM, where she also taught Germanic Philology (1993) and General Linguistics. From 2015 to 2018, she was a laboratory assistant in the Laboratory of Writing and Communication in Italian Language at IULM in Milan. She has also taught English Language at the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Primary Education at Bicocca University in Milan. From 2003 to 2010, she coordinated the editorial activities of the Lessico della classicità nelle letterature europee moderne (FIRB project), published by Treccani.

Marzia Zumofen teaches at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo located in Bologna, where she herself graduated. She is in charge of Incoming Student Orientation unit and collaborates closely with the persons in charge of Outgoing Student Orientation unit and the PCTO Projects of local upper-secondary schools. After finishing her studies, she worked for many years as a freelance dialogic and consecutive interpreter and has been a technical translator for many high-profile Italian and foreign companies for 20 years.

Linda Ansaldo is teacher of German into Italian translation for the degree course in Language Mediation Sciences at SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. She attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Interlinguistic Communication at the Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per Interpreti e Traduttori in Forlì and a Master’s Degree in Translation Studies from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg. After many years of professional experience in the German-speaking area of Switzerland, first in the role of in-house translator at ALDI SUISSE (St. Gallen) and then as a project manager for a translation agency in Zurich, she returned to Italy in 2016 and started her activity of freelance translator, transcreator, and subtitler. Since then, she has been organising communication and marketing campaigns for numerous international clients and brands. She is an ordinary member of the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI).

Linda Armstrong has been teaching English since the time of the great transition in teaching theory and methodology from the Direct Method of the Behaviorists to the Communicative Method of the Cognitivists. She has met distinguished linguists such as Cavalli-Sforza, Paul Bloom, Henry Widdowson, and David Crystal. As well as having worked together with the author of many books on teaching, Mario Rinvolucri, holding workshops for Italian and native speaker colleagues in Bologna and nearby areas. For 30 years, she has been a native speaker teacher of English at the Faculty of Political Science in Bologna, specialising in Reading Skills for the Social Sciences, and Academic Writing Skills. She is the author of several educational publications. She ran a study holiday school in the UK for 15 years until 2019. And, since 1980, she has been an examiner for Cambridge oral examinations at all levels from KET to Proficiency. She has been working at SSML Carlo Bo since 2019, where she teaches Oral English Grammar.

Ksenia Balakina has been a teacher at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna since 2016 and currently teaches active translation courses from Italian into Russian. She serves as a collaborator and Russian language expert, teaching tutor and adjunct professor at the Department of Interpretation and Translation, University of Bologna, where she teaches Russian Language and Specialised Translation. She has also collaborated as an adjunct professor with the University of Padua, where she taught Russian Language courses at various levels.

Luigi Borriello is a lecturer in German language and translation at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna and SSML CIELS. He also teaches courses and seminars on inclusive and gender-responsive translation, effective writing and languages for special purposes. He has been a freelance translator from English, German, and French since 2013. He is a member of the Board of Directors of TradInFo.

Liudmila Buglakova has taught Russian Language (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 levels) at the SSLMIT of the University of Bologna, at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Pisa, at Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bologna, and at the Language Center of the University of Bologna, located in Forlì. Since 1986, she has been teaching Russian Language 1 and 2 at the Faculty of Political Science, and since 2009 Russian at elementary/intermediate/advanced levels at the Master in East European and Eurasian Studies of the University of Bologna. Since 2015, she has been teaching Russian Language 1 and 3 at SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. Author of Multitest Russo, KRASKI-A1, and KRASKI-A2 (A1 and A2 level Russian multimedia communicative courses),
KRASKI-A1 (English version). She has been a member of the Associazione Italiana Slavisti (AIS) since 2000, and the Associazione Italiana Russisti (AIR) since 2004; contact person and member of the TORFL International Certification commission; member of the organising committee of the international conference CIEURUS – University of Bologna, CLIRO; member of the Scientific Committee of the Institute of Russian Language at RUDN University in Moscow since 2021. Experience in high-level interpreting (visit of Russian President M.Gorbačëv) and sworn, technical, commercial translations, specifications, catalogs and manuals in various fields, literary, legal, advertising.

Ilaria Cecchi is a freelance interpreter and translator. She works as an interpreter in the private sector (companies, associations, conference) and for the public institutions (local, regional, and national authorities). She has held training courses at Tuscan engineering and architecture firms for the upgrade of their employees. She teaches Introduction and Specialisation in Intercultural Mediation, Theory and Practice of Conference Interpreting, and Simultaneous Interpreting at SSLM Carlo Bo in Florence and Bologna. I, the undersigned, authorise the processing of my personal data in accordance with Legislative Decree 196 of June 30, 2003.

Giorgio Charissiadis has taught French language, translation and interpreting at the University of Bologna (DIT in Forlì), the University of Macerata, SSML Unicollege in Florence and Mantua. He also teaches French language and culture, and German language and culture in secondary schools. He teaches French language and translation at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. He works as a freelance interpreter and translator.

Alessio Costa teaches Written Mediation from Russian into Italian at SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. He also teaches German Language at the Liceo Linguistico Pico in Mirandola (MO) and has been actively collaborating for years with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, dealing with Polish into Italian translation of texts concerning the Shoah. He also works as a freelancer in translation and consecutive interpretations from Russian, Polish, and German.

Irene Frosi: after a degree in Conference Interpreting from the School for Interpreters and Translators of the University of Bologna in Forlì, with a thesis on television subtitling for the deaf, Irene Frosi carried out research in the area of subtitling and accessibility for two years thanks to a professionalising research grant from the Department of Interpreting and Translation of the University of Bologna. Since academic year 2012-13, she has been an adjunct professor at the School of Languages and Literatures, Translation and Interpreting of the University of Bologna located in Forlì. From 2015 to 2021, she taught at DSFUCI in Arezzo (University of Siena), and during academic years 2013-14 and 2014-15 she taught at the Department of Humanities, University of Macerata. Since 2020, she has also been a teaching tutor at LILEC in Bologna.

Elena Galakhova: I trained in the field of teaching Russian language and literature, graduating with the qualification of ‘Philologist. Teacher of Russian Language and Literature’ in 1995 from the State University of Belarus. Later, I obtained the additional qualification of ‘Teacher of Russian language’ at Moscow State University to be entitled to carry out the professional activity in the field. I have the qualification for the TRKI International Certification Examinations corresponding to levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 (Test of Russian as a Foreign Language).

Isabelle Guignand is a native French speaker. After living and studying in London and Paris, she has been living in Bologna since 2009. In addition to teaching French, she is a founding partner of a clothing brand. She also has a degree in Pedagogy and enjoys reflecting on teaching methods and contents.

Isabella Lega is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. She previously taught translation, dialogic, consecutive, and simultaneous Italian-French interpreting at SSML Unicollege in Florence and SSML in Ancona. At the same time, she works as a freelance conference interpreter, translator, corporate trainer, and respeaker.

Rossella Marchi is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna for the following Chinese courses: Written Mediation – 1st year, Business and Conference Interpretation – 2nd and 3rd year, Written Terminology and Sectorial Languages – 3rd year. She is also a lecturer in Chinese language courses organised by the Confucius Institute of the University of Florence. Graduated with honours from the University of Florence, winner of a scholarship from MIUR, she then attained a second-level Master in Teaching Chinese Language and Culture provided by L’Orientale University of Naples, passing it with honours; she holds the DILS-PG certification for teaching Italian to foreign learners. She has been engaged in linguistic-cultural mediation and consecutive and simultaneous interpreting for many years, again in Chinese. She is also a member of ANIC association.

Marina Martínez Fernández is professor of Written Mediation from Italian into Spanish at the Higher Education Institute SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. Member of the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters since 1998. She has been interpreter and translator during multiple conferences, and has translated books for several publishing houses. She worked many years as an interpreter and translator at the Court of Justice of Bologna. She is the author of Spanish Language and Culture Coursebooks for upper-secondary schools for Zanichelli Editori S.p.A.

Martina Materassi holds a PhD in International Chinese Language Teaching from Beijing Language and Culture University. After working for several years as a translator, interpreter and language-cultural mediator in the business, legal and social fields in both China and Italy, since 2019 she has devoted herself exclusively to teaching Chinese language to the young and adult. She is a teacher of Chinese language at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna.

Lucia Melotti is a lecturer of Spanish grammar and terminology at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna, and of Portuguese interpreting at DIT in Forlì (Unibo) and at UNINT University in Rome. She works as an interpreter for some of the major Italian and international institutions, television networks, renowned companies in various sectors, universities and public administration. Her working languages are Spanish, Portuguese, English, and Sign Language.

Ralph Pacinotti has taught English language and English-Italian translation at the University of Trieste, where in 2020 he was subject tutor. He has also taught Theory and History of Translation and English-Italian Translation at the University of Udine. At the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna, he teaches English-Italian Translation, Computer Tools for Translation and Interpretating, and Audiovisual Translation; at the Milan campus he teaches Written English Grammar and English-Italian Translation. He is a lecturer in English language at the Free University of Languages and Communication IULM in Milan and collaborates with the Instituto Superior de Estudios Lingüísticos y Traducción (ISTRAD) as a lecturer of audiodescription within the postgraduate course Expert in Accessibility of Communication and Cultural Content. Active as a freelance translator, he has written articles and given seminars on audiovisual translation.

Silvia Pintus taught Oral Mediation and Consecutive Interpreting at IULM in Milan from 2017 to 2019.  She is currently a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna and Florence, where she has been teaching Introduction to Oral Mediation, and Business and Conference Interpreting since 2018. She works as a freelancer in the field of conference interpreting and translation and is contact person for important organisations and institutions for the coordination of corporate and conference interpreting teams in the context of international events.

Roberta Rambaldi has been a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna since 1999 in the following subjects: Theory and Practice of Translation and Conference Interpreting, and Laboratory of Written and Oral Mediation for Spanish. She carries out freelance activities as a translator. Her main areas of specialisation are medicine, manuals, science, technology and scientific publications. She participated in the translation of the entire collection Una passeggiata nel Cosmos, published by RBA Editore.

Sara Romanelli is a freelance translator and interpreter in technical-scientific and legal fields, she daily collaborates with English- and German-speaking lawyers and notaries to resolve disputes and/or facilitate important business and/or commercial negotiations. She is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo located in Bologna, where in past academic years she taught German grammar, consecutive interpreting and English simultaneous interpreting. She currently teaches English Grammar and English Special Terminologies.

• Italian Contemporary Literature

Paolo Rondinelli has taught History of the Italian Language at the University of Perugia and is professor of Italian Contemporary Literature at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. For ten years he was a researcher at the Accademia della Crusca, where he edited the volume Proverbi by Francesco Serdonati (forthcoming), and collaborated with the Language Advisory Service. In 2018, he was awarded the national scientific qualification for second-rank university teaching in Italian Philology and Linguistics. The same year he was an examiner at the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies. After specialising in the edition of ancient paremiographic texts, he cultivates interests in comparative phraseology and is a member of the international research project The Peculiarities of the Phraseology of English from a Contrastive Perspective. Among his approximately sixty publications are essays devoted to contemporary language and literature, particularly to the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini. He is on the editorial board of the journal Studi Pasoliniani.

Eric Siegel is a native speaker of English at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna, where he has been teaching translation into English in the Written Mediation Laboratory since 2004. Since 1995 he has been working as a freelance translator for various agencies and companies in different sectors (financial, commercial, technical, advertising, music, etc.). He is a proofreader for the medical journal New Microbiologica and a qualified supplier for BolognaFiere/Arte Fiera.

Natalia Starostina graduated with honours in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication from Moscow State University of Linguistics. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching Russian as L2. Since 2003, she has been involved in interpreting and translating having Russian (A), English (B) and Italian (B) as her working languages. She is a member of Assointerpreti and AITI. She has worked as an interpreter at international institutions (UN, Council of Europe, ILO, EFSA, FAO, ETF, ETUI, etc.) and private companies in the medical, pharmaceutical, financial, oil, engineering, transportation, chemical, etc. sectors. She is a lecturer in Business and Conference Interpreting at the Higher Education Institute SSML Carlo Bo. She is active as a conference interpreter and translator. As part of her continuing professional development, she participates in numerous seminars and courses on topics related to translation and interpretation.

Yunlong Wang was a member and founder of the Italian-Chinese Cultural Centre in Ravenna and currently teaches the courses of Oral Mediation, Business and Conference Interpreting, Oral Grammar and Language Structures, Oral Terminology and Specialised Languages, and Chinese Translation at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bologna. She is also teacher of Chinese language at the Universities of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
