Reception and Mediation in the Russian Tourism and Hospitality Sector – Executive Course

Russian tourism has been playing an important role in the Italian tourism industry for many years, thus contributing significantly to its economy. However, the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine have hit this sector hard, generating a significant impact on the national economy and the coming of Russian-speaking tourists to Italy.

Despite the challenges encountered, there are clear signs of recovery that hint at new opportunities for growth and development. In this recovery environment, it is crucial to get ready to make the most of the future prospects.

With this in mind, we have created our Executive Programme of Russian language for tourism at SSML Carlo Bo Campus in Rome. Carefully and attentively designed, this programme provides the opportunity to enhance language skills and acquire specific skills to excel in the tourism industry.

Aims and Objectives

The main objective of the programme is to provide skills that can be exploited by participants in tourism-related professions through specific classroom training. The programme focuses on the cultural and entertainment needs related to Russian tourism in Italy, ranging from cultural heritage to food and wine, from sports tourism to luxury cruises.

Improvement of skills in the Russian language applied to the tourism sector through the acquisition of cultural and linguistic tools in line with the practice of both written and oral mediation.

Skills Acquired

  • Linguistic, cultural and legislative skills
  • Sectoral skills in tourism-related microlanguages
  • In-depth study of various sectors: luxury, brands, wellness, fashion, art, food and wine, experiential tourism

Programme Recipients and Entry Requirements

Professionals and/or university students with an interest in tourism, mediation and the field of hospitality and hotel management addressed to Russian-speaking customers.

Access to the Programme is through a selective interview aimed to verify language skills in Russian and English. B1 level is required in both languages.

The possession of language certificates in both languages will be an advantage in the selection of candidates

If the course is not activated, candidates will have the fee paid to enroll in the Executive Master fully refunded.

Course Details:

  • Teaching hours: 100 hours (10 weeks / 3 months)
  • Start: 03/03/2025
  • End: 20/05/2025
  • Lesson days: Tuesday and Wednesday
  • Time: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (60 minutes per hour)
  • Modality: Hybrid

Programme Summary

Introductory part:

  • Elements of hotel legislation and management.
  • Optimization of customer needs.
  • Linguistic mediation in tourism.

Languages:

  • Introduction and in-depth study of cultural aspects.
  • Specific courses on cruise lines, events, gastronomy, luxury, health/ wellness, business.
  • Presentation of the final project.

Traineeships:

  • Traineeship opportunities at major hotel companies.

The course will start only in the presence of a minimum number of participants equal to 7. Otherwise, the registration fee will be fully refunded.
